CAMPANILLEROS.
m. pl. [CampanilIero, individual members of a group, often called the campanilleros. In some villages sing Andalusian songs of a religious nature, with accompaniment of guitars, bells and other instruments.] Song with copla, usually six verses with rhyme on vocals. First, third and fifth 10 syllables, second and fourth are twelve, sometimes four verses of 8 syllables linked to another four verses with six syllables.
It is my song “aflamencado” of folkloristic origin, led by the popular Andalusian songs of Rosario de la Aurora. A sample of the oldest stems of Flamenco campanilleros comes from Manuel Torre, he did a version, recorded on disc, played with great drama and depth, rather separating his music from the original and providing genuine flamenco.
The popularity increased with La Niña de la Puebla, she made another version of that song more light and easy. Their lyrics are naturally religious, but admits other topics.
